Just days before the 2025 season began, Micah Parsons made it clear that football takes priority. After the Dallas Cowboys traded him to the Green Bay Packers, the All-Pro pass rusher signed a four-year, $188 million contract and immediately set the standard for how he intends to lead in Green Bay.
“Just focus on ball. I’m going to take a break from everything, I’m so ready to focus on this thing, what it’s all about. Here, it’s all about ball. They pour everything into this. This is probably what I needed in my life,” said the newest member of the Green Bay Packers via Packers Wire senior editor, Zach Kruse in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
Parsons said the move allowed him to reset his life and fully commit himself to football.
“I told my family, they said, ‘Are you happy?’ I said I couldn’t be happier. I feel it. You ever have that feeling like, ‘I think I made the right decision’ That’s exactly how I feel,” Parsons continued.
The 25-year-old acknowledged that Green Bay’s quieter environment appealed to him after four years with the Dallas Cowboys. Emphasizing his relentless competitiveness, Parsons called the city the ideal place to eliminate distractions and take the next step in his career.
Parsons made it clear that he embraces his competitiveness with pride.
“I have no off switch. I only know go. I’m a competitor,” Parsons said. “Bro, I’ll bring a Connect 4 board in here and whoop everybody and dare them to do something.”
Parsons’ relentless mentality has fueled a historic start to his NFL career. In just four seasons with the Cowboys, he became one of only two players in league history, joining Hall of Famer Reggie White, to notch at least 12 sacks in each of his first four years. Now he plans to carry that same dominance to Green Bay, where the Packers aim to shape their defense around him.
For the Packers, adding Parsons means more than just securing top-tier production. It gives the team a player completely devoted to one goal. His mantra of being “all about ball” has already resonated with teammates and captures the kind of leadership presence the Packers expect to carry into the 2025 season.
