Former Dallas Cowboys edge rusher Micah Parsons hasn't shied away from commenting on his former team since he was traded in August.
He's taken slight jabs at the front office, commented on Jerry Jones not reaching out to him after the trade, and made a joke or two about him being a decent run defender, an area of his game attacked by the Cowboys owner.
But now, he's taking direct aim at the Cowboys by chiming in on the odd situation the franchise is going through with All-Pro cornerback Trevon Diggs. The latter was placed on Injured Reserve by the Cowboys following a concussion suffered in a "home accident." He's also listed with a knee injury. Both Jerry and Stephen Jones have publicly suggested they didn't trust where Diggs was physically.
Yahoo Sports' Jori Epstein recently talked to Parsons, who gave his opinion on the matter. And it's not one that paints the Cowboys in a great light.
“Honestly, I feel like they (expletive) my dog over (Trevon Diggs),” Parsons told Yahoo Sports' Jori Epstein. “He’s coming off a catastrophic knee injury and I just didn't think they did right by him. He didn't participate all camp and he's going out there playing Week 1 and 2. I just don't think you do that to a player like that. [. . .] And the type of knee injury he had, they forced him out there. He has no reps really. He’s telling me he was in warmup phase during Week 1. Even with the ramp-up, I just feel like you just don't do that.”
“I just feel like they screwed him over,” Parsons added. “The organization let him down. You know what I mean? You just don't do that to a player. And I just think it was mad wrong and I just pray for him.”
The comments from the former Cowboys star and now Green Bay Packers edge rusher carry undeniable weight for a simple reason: It's well-known Diggs and Parsons are good friends off the field. Both talked to the media together in training camp amid Parsons' contract standoff with Dallas and following the front office's jabs at Diggs in the opening press conference at Oxnard, California.
The Cowboys have stayed mum amid questions about what exactly happened with Diggs for him to unexpectedly landing on IR. Considering Parsons and Diggs claim to be friends, it's only fair to assume they talk to each other. So are Parsons' comments on his "dog" the reflection of how Diggs feels?
At the very least, Diggs' comments will likely lead to even more follow-up questions to Cowboys execs and coaches about what happened. Let's see if the Dallas front office offers answers at all or if the Trevon Diggs saga remains covered in mystery.
