The Green Bay Packers' defense is set to take the next step following the addition of Micah Parsons. Before the trade with the Dallas Cowboys, pass-rusher was one of the team’s weaker spots on the roster — now, they have an All-Pro player at one of the most critical positions in football.
Parsons recently made a bold statement about what he envisions for Green Bay's defense in 2025.
Parsons is set to lead the Packers as the newest superstar on defense. The team has a lot of goals entering 2025, but one thing Parsons envisions in the future is some of his new teammates signing massive contracts.
Parsons inked a contract extension with Green Bay immediately after the trade that saw him become the highest-valued non-quarterback player in the NFL with an average annual value (AAV) of $47 million. However, Parsons also sees his abilities helping his teammates get their payday as well.
Micah Parsons says he’s never not played with a Pro Bowl or All-Pro CB:
“That should mean something to ‘em,” he said of his new teammates. “I’m gonna make them a lot of money. That ball’s gonna come out a whole lot quicker.” pic.twitter.com/v3XQKj68U1

Notably, Parsons highlighted the connectivity on defense between the pass-rush and the coverage unit on the back end.
As he described, there will be times when coverage from players like Xavier McKinney and Keisean Nixon will allow him to get a sack; other times, it will be his pass-rushing ability that will make life easier for his teammates in the secondary.
During his time in Dallas, Parsons played alongside high-quality defensive backs like Trevon Diggs and DaRon Bland, each of whom has been an All-Pro. Parsons expects his new teammates to reach such heights during his time in Green Bay.
Last season, McKinney was the first Packers safety to be named an All-Pro in over 20 years. A second consecutive year of that honor would be an impressive achievement. It will be up to defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley to maximize what the unit can achieve as a whole. If the unit can thrive as a group, there is no doubt that they'll each likely earn several accolades.
Hafley has done his homework on Parsons and is surely salivating at the opportunity to deploy one of the NFL’s most dangerous weapons weekly. Green Bay’s first order of business will be to assert dominance in the division, as they are set to face the Detroit Lions on Sunday.
