Michael Irvin remains one of the defining figures of the Dallas Cowboys’ dynasty era, building a Hall of Fame career that reshaped the wide receiver position in the 1990s. Drafted 11th overall by the Cowboys in 1988, Irvin spent all 12 of his NFL seasons in Dallas, earning the nickname “The Playmaker” for his ability to deliver in high-leverage moments.
He finished his career with 750 receptions for 11,904 yards and 65 touchdowns, while playing a central role in three Super Bowl championships. Irvin was selected to five Pro Bowls and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2007, cementing his place among the league’s all-time greats.
Since retiring, Irvin has remained a prominent and influential voice around the NFL. He transitioned seamlessly into media, becoming a longtime analyst on NFL Network and a familiar presence across national football programming. Even after changes to network roles in recent years, Irvin has continued to engage fans through television appearances, podcasts, speaking engagements, and business ventures, maintaining a strong connection to the league and its evolving storylines.
That post-playing résumé has now set the stage for his latest move. On Wednesday, Irvin announced via social media that he is launching his own production company, Playmaker Production Group.
“I’m just so excited to share with you guys the great moves that I have started my own production group, Playmaker Production Group,” Irvin said. “Let me tell you, I’ve had a great football career and a great broadcasting career, working for just about every network. But now, with my own production group, we get to dive a little deeper. So we are looking so forward to bringing you those great, authentic stories. Stories that will raise you up, stories that will make you think, some that may even drop a tear.”

The name of the company is rooted in Irvin’s playing-day identity, drawing directly from the nickname that defined his career. While specific projects have not yet been announced, Irvin appears to position the company as a platform to give athletes and creators a voice beyond the field.
As Irvin embarks on this new venture, his former team prepares for a holiday matchup. The Dallas Cowboys (6-8-1), already eliminated from playoff contention, will face the Washington Commanders (4-11) on Christmas Day. The game is scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff and will be broadcast nationally on CBS.
