As the Micah Parsons debate (or debacle, depending on your point of view) rumbles on, many have now turned from wondering if a deal with the Dallas Cowboys will be struck to wondering where Micah Parsons might land if one doesn’t.
While there’s no sense yet that Dallas is ready to trade away its disgruntled pass-rusher, the ongoing media and briefing war between the parties doesn’t suggest a deal is anywhere near being reached either.
Both sides have gone relatively silent after firing some salvos at one another in recent weeks, with Parsons seemingly making his last public comment on the matter in what amounted to a goodbye message to Dallas fans via Twitter around ten days ago.

With a vacuum of news, analysts are stepping into the void to try and make sense of the situation, and one prominent analyst, and former beloved Cowboy, has suggested a trade that could shake the foundations of the league.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, former Dallas Cowboys Hall of Fame wide receiver Michael Irvin mused on the Parsons situation, speaking about it being ‘personal’ to Jerry Jones and lauding his talent as a negotiator.
Irvin then began to come up with potential trade destinations for Parsons, and after initially pondering the idea of a straight swap or pairing with Maxx Crosby, or a potential move to the Buffalo Bills, Irvin came up with a stunning idea to swap two disgruntled players in a trade that would shock the NFL.
“The last one for Micah…and the fit would be perfect…would be the Commanders. He’s back with his old DC (Dan Quinn), a young great quarterback, and he would terrorize us for the rest of his career,” said Irvin.
“I don’t give a damn that my brain says that would be a good spot. My heart can’t allow it. Even though the Commanders are dealing with a disgruntled player themselves in Terry McLaurin, and you could include him in a trade. That might help me get over it. That’s a hell of a question. Would I take that deal? As an offensive guy…I need the points, and Terry McLaurin being added to Dallas’s offense is gonna get you 30-35 points a game. Micah on the defense…he’s still just one man,” finished Irvin.
Let’s be honest, the chances of both a player-for-player trade and an intra-divisional trade are slim at best. They’re not something that happens regularly in the NFL as it is, but between Dallas and Washington seems even more far-fetched.
However, there is a wildcard here, and it’s the same wildcard who has failed to bring an agreement in this position in the first place, Jerry Jones. Jones essentially runs the football operation in Dallas, and while he’s running it, anything can happen and can’t be ruled out.
He did promise some blockbuster trades in the offseason, and we know he loves offense and offensive players. Whether he’d commit a third big contract on the offense to McLaurin, bearing in mind he’s already paid Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb, is more of a question.
Who knows if Irvin’s darkest timeline will come true, but what a moment that would be in the NFL, right?
