A Stewartville teacher's unique, football-themed approach to teaching a science class won him a spot on the NFL Network's "Good Morning Football" last week.
Brandon Hoth, a science teacher at Stewartville Middle School, was featured in a segment last Wednesday after first grabbing the network’s attention when he took to social media to use Kyle Brandt's "Angry Run" segment to demonstrate concepts like Newton’s Third Law of Motion in his classroom.
In an interview with the show’s hosts, Hoth, who also works as a high school football coach, said he thought making the comparison would bring “energy” into his lessons.
“I’ve been watching for a very long time, and that’s something that I've always wanted to emulate for my students, too, whether it’s science class, athletics, football. It’s just bringing energy to everything you do.”
Each week, Brandt awards one NFL player the Angry Runs Scepter each week for what it deems powerful, "angry" plays.
"It’s energy. And I’m not just talking about energy from the science side of things. It’s just the raw energy every week that you bring to the segment, the raw energy every week that you bring to the segment, and that's something I wanna bring for my students too," he continued.
"There's a little bit of confusion, they're thinking this guy on the screen is nuts, they're thinking I'm nuts, but whatever we're going to do it's always an energy we wanna bring, even if it's a little bit obnoxious at times as, you know, Kyle can be," Hoth said, to roars of laughter from the hosts.
Huge thanks and gratitude to the teachers out there.

Hoth went on to say that using real-life examples in football help him make lessons more relevant and fun for students.
"Science is actually really fun when you learn kind of how it applies to everything that you do," Hoth said.
As he featured on GMF, Brandt concluded: "For every reaction there is an equal and opposite reaction and our reaction to you is just tremendous respect. Not only are you a great teacher and a great teacher, you are a great interview, man!"
Heavy @KyleBrandt presence today in science class, teaching Newton’s 3rd Law!
