Minnesota Vikings Could Pursue Intriguing Cornerback
Denny Simmons / The Tennessean / USA TODAY NETWORK

Following a playoff absence last season, the Minnesota Vikings are poised to make significant improvements during the offseason.

One area ripe for enhancement is the cornerback position, and ESPN’s Matt Bowen suggests Sean Murphy-Bunting of the Tennessee Titans as a potential target. Murphy-Bunting, set for free agency, boasts a Super Bowl ring from his time with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2021.

Bowen, in a recent analysis, identified Minnesota as the ideal landing spot for Murphy-Bunting. He highlighted the following points:

“I originally had Murphy-Bunting to Arizona here, but I believe the Vikings will be seeking some corners for Brian Flores’ aggressive system, and he’d work well in Minnesota. With his long frame and fluid hips, Murphy-Bunting can challenge on the outside or match in blitz coverage. He has eight interceptions and 22 pass breakups over five pro seasons, with two picks in 2023 in Tennessee.”

Murphy-Bunting spent the previous season with the Titans after a four-year stint with the Buccaneers, who drafted him in the second round (39th overall) of the 2019 NFL Draft.

Throughout his career, Murphy-Bunting has amassed 245 total tackles, 29 pass deflections, eight interceptions, six forced fumbles, a fumble recovery, and a touchdown.

At 26 years old, Murphy-Bunting is poised for continued success in the league, making him an attractive prospect for the Vikings. Despite his youth and skillset, he is likely to draw interest from several teams in free agency, meaning the Minnesota Vikings may face stiff competition for his signature should they pursue him.
