The Minnesota Vikings are heading out to California to take on the Los Angeles Chargers on Thursday night.

Overall, the matchup is going to be a tough one for both teams. The Vikings will have to deal with Justin Herbert for the second time in three years, while he will be tasked with beating a fully fledged out Brian Flores defense, something that wasn't the case in their matchup two years ago in 2023.

The final injury report is a big one for both teams, and it's littered with offensive linemen.

Observations

  • No Van Ginkel again is frustrating, but continuing to practice in some capacity is a good thing. Hopefully, he is able to return next week against the Detroit Lions.
  • With McCarthy being named the emergency QB and Wentz the starter, their designations aren't much of a surprise.
  • O'Neill being listed as questionable stinks, but he did take a step forward on Wednesday, being listed as limited. Darrisaw, being a late addition with his knee and not due to rest, is something to keep an eye on.
  • Jones has a chance to play coming back from his hamstring injury. If he does, expect him to get quite a few touches in unique ways.

  • The Chargers are very beat up on the offensive line, and it's no surprise to see multiple players on the list. The OL struggled massively against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday afternoon. All of them are questionable, and it could be a massive issue if they all miss the game.
  • Jamaree Caldwell is a big part of the Chargers' run defense, and if he misses the game, that could be a big factor in the Vikings' plans to attack the Chargers' defense.
