The Minnesota Vikings are one of the teams that must bounce back in the 2026 NFL season. Despite finishing the 2025 campaign on a high note, they missed the playoffs.
J.J. McCarthy’s play was under heavy criticism, which prompted the team to sign veteran quarterback Kyler Murray to compete for the starting spot.
Additionally, they saw several players leave in free agency.
Meanwhile, the Vikings are still trying to find a trade partner for one of their best players.
On Wednesday, Judd Zulgad and Phil Mackey of SKOR North predicted that Jonathan Greenard’s trade talk will ramp up ahead of or during the upcoming NFL draft.
“It’s been real quiet for the last month on the Greenard front,” Mackey said. “But that does feel like something that’s going to pop back up next week.”
“He might want more than teams want to pay him, which would cause a stalemate with the teams he’s talking to. But it does seem like it’s ripe for a draft-week trade where a team decides, ‘Screw it. We need a guy who can get to the quarterback.’ Greenard can do that,” Zulgad added. “So, since it’s sort of died off … it seems like a draft type of thing.”
Greenard’s play decreased in 2025 (12 sacks in 2024 to just three last year), but some teams around the league can still see him as a productive player. He has six seasons under his belt, perhaps entering the best part of his career.
