Myles Garrett set to miss multiple weeks

The Los Angeles Rams’ much-hyped pass rush will be incomplete for at least four weeks with Myles Garrett landing on the shelf.

Garrett will undergo arthroscopic surgery on his injured knee and is being placed on injured reserve, as first reported by Tom Pelissero of The Ringer. That will rule Garrett out for at least four weeks, and the Rams hope he will not miss any more time than that.

Garrett was hindered by knee issues during preseason, but his performance in Thursday’s season-opening loss to the San Francisco 49ers made it clear just how much the issue was bothering him. He did not record a tackle in his team’s 27-7 loss, and admitted the injury had negatively impacted his performance.

The centerpiece of the Rams’ much-hyped defensive front, Garrett was acquired via trade during the offseason. He is fresh off a record-setting 23 sack season for the Cleveland Browns a year ago. A four-game absence makes it highly unlikely he gets close to that number again.

The Rams also did not have Aaron Donald during the season opener, but that could change in Week 2 against the New York Giants.
