The NFL regular season has come to an end following a "Sunday Night Football" matchup between the Detroit Lions and Minnesota Vikings.
In Week 18, the Lions defeated the Vikings 31-9, improving to 15-2 on the season while Minnesota fell to 14-3.
The "Sunday Night Football" matchup between the NFC opponents was broadcast on NBC Sports. Following the game, the network's public relations team posted the official viewerships numbers from Week 18.
The Lions and Vikings helped NBC earn the largest audience for "Sunday Night Football" since 2012 with 28.5 million average viewers.

The Week 18 matchup between the Lions and Vikings featured an exquisite showing from Detroit, most notably on the offensive end.
Quarterback Jared Goff led the charge with one touchdown and 231 yards, completing 27 of 33 pass attempts.
While Goff managed the offense, the true superstar was running back Jahmyr Gibbs, who posted three touchdowns and 139 yards on the ground as well as one touchdown, 31 yards and five receptions in the air.
With the "Sunday Night Football" victory, Goff and the Lions clinched the No. 1 seed in the NFC, while the Vikings secured the No. 5 spot in the NFC postseason standings.
While Detroit will have a first-round bye, Minnesota will be back on the field on Jan. 13 for a Wild Card matchup against the Los Angeles Rams.
