New Orleans Saints Host Wide Receiver Gabe Davis on a Visit

Davis, 26, has accumulated 2,969 yards and 29 touchdowns over his career and has been a reliable red zone target. However, the five-year pass catcher had his worst season as a pro in 2024 with the Jaguars, catching 20 passes for 239 yards and 2 touchdowns.

The New Orleans wide receiver room lacks a prevalent big-bodied wideout. While Chris Olave and Rashid Shaheed have proven their value, they don't possess a middle-of-the-field presence.

General Manager Mickey Loomis mentioned the team's intent to draft a wideout in the draft but said they never thought the value was there. New Orleans would later add Donovan Peoples-Jones to a one-year deal. Second-year wide receiver Bub Means' name has been buzzing during OTAs and many believe the Saints feel comfortable giving him a bigger role in 2025, but as New Orleans still lingers in the wide receiver market, Davis could be a big addition. 

Davis has high-level Ball tracking skills and high-points the ball at an elite level. While he didn't produce in 2024, a change of scenery can be what is needed to get the former fourth-round pick back on track. 

Davis recently visited with the Pittsburgh Steelers and is expected to build a bit of a market. With the 6-foot-2 wideout still earning from the large three-year $39 million contract he signed during the 2024 offseason, he isn't likely to demand a large contract.

Per Over The Cap, the Saints and Steelers both have around $30 million left in cap space. With both teams having a similar cap situation, it can come down to the situation for Davis.
