The New York Giants might not be viewed as your prototypical buyers ahead of the trade deadline, but they could potentially pursue a dynamic wide receiver.
A little over two weeks ago, SNY insider Connor Hughes said the Giants could be in the market for playmakers such as Jakobi Meyers, Chris Olave and Jaylen Waddle. The team certainly needs help at that position with Pro Bowl wideout Malik Nabers sidelined for the rest of the season.
After Hughes reported New York's interest in Waddle, all the rumors went quiet. Well, they've resurfaced this Friday due to a front office change in South Beach.
The Miami Dolphins have parted ways with longtime general manager Chris Grier. Apparently, that could lead to Waddle being on the trade block.
"Something I was told regarding Jaylen Waddle, and said this on SNY: He wasn’t getting moved as long as Chris Grier had a say. He believed, because of one-possession games, Dolphins could turn it around," Hughes wrote on X. "With Grier now gone..."
The Dolphins are near the bottom of the AFC standings at 2-7, but it's not because of Waddle.
Although the Dolphins have been incredibly inconsistent on offense, Waddle has 41 receptions for 586 yards and four touchdowns. He's on pace to have one of the best seasons of his young career.
It'd be fun to see Waddle work with Jaxson Dart, who has the ability to make incredible plays off script. Will a deal actually happen though? Only time will tell.
The NFL trade deadline is set for Nov. 4 at 4 p.m. ET.
