New York Jets Offensive Line Shows Promise

The New York Jets offensive line shows a lot of promise, according to most observers. But coming out of the gate, some pundits are not overly impressed. 

Pro Football Focus (PFF) grades every player on every play each week to produce 0–100 rankings, adjusting as per performance and as starting lineups change because of injuries. 

This week, it took a look at the offensive lines from around the league. Every projected starter was given a score from 5.0 to 10.0 in 0.5-point increments, basing the marks on the stats from the last three seasons where applicable. More weight was given to pass protection and the tackle spots, the latter usually matched against the defense’s top rushers.  

The Jets have a young O-line featuring two No. 1 bookend tackles in Olu Fashanu (left tackle, the all-important blind side) and right tackle Armand Membou, perhaps the most talented of the blockers. They are abetted by new left guard Dylan Parham and right guard Joe Tippmann, with Josh Myers holding down center. 

The Jets gave up 60 sacks last year with largely the same cast except for Parham, which was the second-most dumplings in the league. They did power the running game to an average of 4.6 per carry. 

But PFF is reserving its judgment for 2026, and has the Jets as the 21st-ranked offensive line, not surprising given the sacks allowed from the previous year. 

PFF allowed that Fashanu “turned the corner” as a pass blocker in the second half of the 2025 season, earning PFF pass-blocking grades of 74.7 or better in six of the final eight contests. Membou had PFF grades above 70.0 in both pass protection and as a run blocker, and most importantly, had no hurries in his generally solid rookie season.

The interior linemen, which features newcomer Parham, a free agent pickup from the Las Vegas Raiders, have something to prove to PFF.  

Tippmann was playing right guard last year for the first time after moving over from center to accommodate Myers, who came over to the Jets as a free agent after being drafted by the Green Bay Packers in the second round of the 2021 draft. As with most offensive lines, it takes time to adjust to each other, but the arrow appears to be pointing up for 2026.

PFF predicts, “this is a unit that could surprise in 2026 if they can get even solid play at guard and center.”

The top three lines according to PFF, in order: the Denver Broncos, the Philadelphia Eagles, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
