NFC Championship Game: San Francisco 49ers vs. Los Angeles Rams odds and best bets

The wins by both of these teams last week could not have been more different. For the Rams, they were dominating early but then needed a field goal late to knock out Tom Brady and the defending champion Bucs. The 49ers advanced even though their offense was almost nonexistent. A key special teams play gave them a chance and they played great defense in the cold. This team just makes plays when they have to.

We saw this game a few weeks ago as San Francisco needed a furious comeback at L.A.to punch their ticket for the playoffs. The 49ers are as battle-tested as they come at this stage of the playoffs.

The Rams' best game is probably better than San Francisco's but can they play at that level for a full contest? What we saw last week was that as soon as they start to slip or get conservative, it can spark the opponent. San Francisco has confidence from the regular season they can lean on, too.

Best Bets

San Francisco +3.5 (-110)

Last week we were treated to four close games. When these teams met twice during the regular season we saw SF win at LA 27-24, and the 49ers dominate at home, winning 31-10. I know the Rams won the division so they technically had the better season, but it is interesting that they could lose twice to the 49ers and still be favored at home by more than a field goal on Sunday. In both of their wins, the 49ers were able to set the tone by running the ball. They should be able to do so again on Sunday, and the much better weather should mean that coach Kyle Shanahan gets much more the passing game, too. This one will probably go back and forth, and as long as the 49ers are +3.5 that is the side you want to be on. Like the games last week, this probably comes down to whoever has the ball last.

Most Receiving Yards - Deebo Samuel, Odell Beckham, George Kittle, Brandon Aiyuk (all +900)

The market for this prop is fascinating. Cooper Kupp is awesome and is -160 to have the most receiving yards in the game this week. At these prices though, you can put money on all four of these players, and if anyone of them cashes, you can still make a profit a decent profit. You can even throw in Rams TE Tyler Higbee at +2000 if you want.

Kupp had seven receptions when these teams met in the last week of the regular season. Yes, he did lead both teams in receiving yards that day but those seven catches were a season-low. The prices here are too good to ignore.

Von Miller to Record a Sack (-102)

Miller can still get to the quarterback. He closed the regular season with sacks in four straight games and has one sack in each of the two Rams playoff games, too. Thanks to Rams DT Aaron Donald on the inside, Miller cannot be schemed the same way he was in Denver. 49ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo knows that sometimes it is better to eat the ball, too. Miller will get him on the ground on Sunday.
