Buccaneers fourth-round CB Keionte Scott recorded his first career sack in Week 6’s win over the Steelers. Scott was taken aback to sack QB Aaron Rodgers for the first time.
“Talked to him after the game, got to clap up,” Scott said, via Gabriel Kahaian of the team’s site. “That’s someone I look at as one of the leaders of this game and one of the best to do it. So, to be able to get it on him was fun.”
Buccaneers HC Todd Bowles called Scott one of their “best players” so far this season.
“‘Key’ [has] been one of our best players this year,” Bowles said. “He doesn’t say much. He’s been very solid with his fundamentalist technique and he tackles way more than he weighs. He tackles almost like a linebacker. He’s a very tough kid, wants to be good, wants to be great, extremely tough, puts in the work during the week. That’s what you really like about him. He really studies and gets it down for Sunday and he executes well.”
Panthers LS J.J. Jansen became the league’s longest-serving long snapper this season and reminisced on his special career.
“This isn’t going to shock you, but I don’t really care to think about it all that much,” Jansen said via the Carolina Panthers’ official website. “I mean, it’s cool. As I’ve told you many times before, I never thought I’d play this long. I still feel very young. Unfortunately, with each passing year, I get more and more other snappers saying, ‘Oh man, I watched you growing up,’ ‘Oh man, I always wanted to be you.’ And it’s just gross, but I’m getting more of it now.”
