NFL Announces Triple Punishment for Titans on Saturday

The Tennessee Titans are a mess right now. After getting off to an ugly 1-5 start despite having the 2025 No. 1 pick Cam Ward, the team decided to fire head coach Brian Callahan. Now, Mike McCoy is serving as the interim head coach while the team searches for Callahan's official replacement.

Regardless of the decision, there's still no solution in sight for the Titans to resolve their offensive shortcomings. Tennessee is the worst offensive team in the NFL this 2025, having scored only 83 points in six games — the fewest throughout six games in franchise history, according to ESPN.

As if their ugly record and coaching situation aren't enough, the Titans received more bad news after the NFL announced its latest round of punishments for the previous week.

Tennessee was hit with nearly $50,000 in fines, with three players getting penalized for unnecessary roughness. The Titans also had the highest number of players fined for Week 6.

Cornerback L'Jarius Sneed received the biggest fine, as the NFL slapped him with a $23,186 punishment due to illegal use of the helmet. It happened in the second quarter of their game against the Las Vegas Raiders, when Sneed attempted to tackle rookie running back Ashton Jeanty.

Defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons also received a $12,172 fine for "Striking/Kicking/Tripping/Kneeing" in the first quarter. Meanwhile, linebacker Dre'Mont Jones was fined $11,593 fine for a facemask violation.

While it's an unfortunate turn for the Titans, they can't really focus too much on what has already happened. The team is set to host their former coach Mike Vrabel and his new team, the New England Patriots, in Week 7 on Sunday.

Sure enough, Tennessee will want to win that showdown, although it won't be easy with the Patriots thriving under Vrabel and boasting a 4-2 record.
