NFL Week Two is here. The early slate of games is over, and it’s time to break out the food. What’s better than making money while pigging out? These are the top three bets for the games in the 4:00 pm Eastern window. The odds were supplied by Bodog, and stats per the NFL.
While the Carolina Panthers may not have high hopes of winning many games, there’s even less if they continue to let their quarterback throw 35 times, as he did in Week One. Bryce Young’s first two years in the NFL were underwhelming, and the team needs to keep games close to have any chance. He finished last season with 27.5 pass attempts per game, inflating this line from one performance.
Teams can keep games close by pounding the rock. Running back Chubba Hubbard is one of the few bright spots on offense. After cracking 1,000 rushing yards and double-digit touchdowns for the first team last season, it’s time for the team to lean into one of its few strengths. They need to keep possession, run the clock, and even then, they will require some luck this year.
This is the most disrespectful line of the week. Indianapolis Colts quarterback Daniel Jones found some Week One magic, unlike what fans are accustomed to, albeit against a crumbling Miami Dolphins team. The ceiling is clear, with the Duke alumni never finishing above a two-to-one touchdown to interception ratio since joining the league in 2019.
Indianapolis won’t have such a basic test this week against last year’s seventh-ranked defense, while Denver’s middle-of-the-pack offense has a bottom-five defense to deal with. After scoring 20 against the Tennessee Titans’ stout defense in Week One, the Denver Broncos should have a much easier day.
Despite the slow and steady decline, the Kansas City Chiefs still receive lines reminiscent of a dynasty. They were embarrassed by the Philadelphia Eagles in the Super Bowl and didn’t show up ready to play in Week One, losing to the Chargers. Philadelphia’s thinned-out defense was exposed with the early ejection of defensive tackle Jalen Carter, who spat on Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott.
Luckily for fans, Carter avoids missing further time, ready to come back with vengeance. Kansas City is still without wide receiver Rashee Rice due to suspension, and Xavier Worthy is listed as doubtful as of Saturday morning. They don’t have receivers of the caliber of the Eagles’ Week One opponent, who were handled well enough for the win without Carter.
Eat those ribs and grab another six-pack; it’s a great day to earn and dine. There is an absurd amount of respect being given to the Chiefs and Colts, leaving plenty of juice for the squeezing.
