The Washington Commanders opened their 2025 NFL season with a 21–6 win over the New York Giants at Northwest Stadium, behind a pair of early touchdowns from quarterback Jayden Daniels and running back Jacory Croskey-Merrit and a late score from wide receiver Deebo Samuel.

However, the game’s broadcast drew as much attention as the play on the field, with Tom Brady returning for his second season as Fox’s lead analyst and facing renewed criticism from media figures, including Skip Bayless.

Bayless posted on X during the game: "I'm sorry, Tom Brady is as bland as an announcer as he was all-time greatest as a quarterback. From Capt. Comeback to Capt. Obvious."

Brady signed a 10-year, $375 million deal with Fox Sports in 2022, officially joining the booth in 2024 alongside play-by-play partner Kevin Burkhardt.

His debut season drew mixed reviews: praised for preparation and football IQ, but criticized for delivery, pacing and lack of chemistry with Burkhardt.

Brady acknowledged the challenges in a candid interview with Fox’s Joel Klatt on August 11, comparing the experience to his rookie year in the NFL.

"There was absolutely nothing that I did that could really prepare me for what I was about to endure," Brady said. "It gets a little better in Week 2 and a little better in Week 3 and then sometimes you regress a little bit... By the time I got to the Super Bowl, I was way more comfortable."

Fox retained Brady as its lead analyst for this NFL season, assigning him to marquee matchups including:

  • Week 1: New York Giants vs. Washington Commanders
  • Week 2: Philadelphia Eagles vs. Kansas City Chiefs
  • Week 3: Dallas Cowboys at Chicago Bears
  • Week 5: Detroit Lions at Cincinnati Bengals
  • Week 7: Washington Commanders at Dallas Cowboys
  • Week 10: Detroit Lions at Washington Commanders
  • Week 12: Philadelphia Eagles at Dallas Cowboys
  • Week 13: Green Bay Packers at Detroit Lions
  • Week 14: Cincinnati Bengals at Buffalo Bills
  • Week 15: Detroit Lions at Los Angeles Rams
  • Week 17: Philadelphia Eagles at Buffalo Bills
  • Week 18: Dallas Cowboys at New York Giants

Brady’s booth team includes Burkhardt, sideline reporters Erin Andrews and Tom Rinaldi and production support from Fox’s top NFL unit.

Despite the platform, fan sentiment remains divided. Many viewers continue to advocate for Greg Olsen’s return to the No. 1 crew, citing stronger chemistry and more dynamic analysis.
