NFL Divisional betting odds after six weeks

We've crossed the halfway point of October, and while there's plenty of NFL season left, teams are starting to show us who they are.

It's a good time for us to take stock of the divisional races and the betting odds to see if we can find a wager worth making. There is a clear takeaway: we have a lot of wide-open divisions so far.

NFC

NFC East

Standings:

  1. Philadelphia Eagles (6-0 overall, 2-0 division)
  2. New York Giants (5-1, 0-1)
  3. Dallas Cowboys (4-2, 2-1)
  4. Washington Commanders (2-4, 0-2)

Odds to win division:

  1. Philadelphia: -400
  2. Dallas: +550
  3. New York: +800
  4. Washington: +10000

From a strictly process standpoint, seeing the Giants at +800 when they're only a game back and haven't yet faced the Eagles feels like a bet to make. However, Philly is riding high and has an extremely easy schedule the rest of the way.

Philly feels destined for home field advantage out of the NFC.

NFC North

Standings:

  1. Minnesota Vikings (5-1, 3-0)
  2. Green Bay Packers (3-3, 1-1)
  3. Chicago Bears (2-4, 0-2)
  4. Detroit Lions (1-4, 0-1)

Odds to win division:

  1. Minnesota: -300
  2. Green Bay: +250
  3. Detroit: +2500
  4. Chicago: +10000

The Vikings have early control of this division, two games up on the Packers and owning a 3-0 divisional record that will come in handy should we see a tie at the top. Green Bay has dropped a pair of games to the Giants and Jets in the last two weeks that has many questioning if the Packers can even make the playoffs.

If any team can choke away a division, it's one led by Kirk Cousins. Green Bay at +250 feels like nice value right now.

NFC South

Standings:

  1. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (3-3, 2-0)
  2. Atlanta Falcons (3-3, 0-2)
  3. New Orleans Saints (2-4, 1-2)
  4. Carolina Panthers (1-5, 1-0)

Odds to win division:

  1. Tampa: -600
  2. Atlanta: +650
  3. New Orleans: +1400
  4. Carolina: +2800

We've loved what the Falcons have done, going 6-0 ATS and looking like a fun team out there. The early 0-2 divisional record is a tough hole to climb out of, but at +650 this is a spot that feels worth a small sprinkle. Tom Brady and the Buccaneers have not looked good to start the year.

They'll likely figure it out, but the Falcons should remain a competitive team this season.

NFC West

Standings:

  1. San Francisco 49ers (3-3, 2-0)
  2. Los Angeles Rams (3-3, 1-1)
  3. Seattle Seahawks (3-3, 1-1)
  4. Arizona Cardinals (2-4, 0-2)

Odds to win division:

  1. San Francisco: +120
  2. Los Angeles: +120
  3. Arizona: +900
  4. Seattle: +1400

The Rams have looked awful this season, and with injuries continuing to pile up on the offensive line we don't see how they possibly win this division. We are as low as we can be on the Rams, and with an early 2-0 record in the division, the 49ers are the natural choice here.

AFC

AFC East

Standings:

  1. Buffalo Bills (5-1, 0-1)
  2. New York Jets (4-2, 1-0)
  3. Miami Dolphins (3-3, 2-1)
  4. New England Patriots (3-3, 0-1)

Odds to win division:

  1. Buffalo: -1000
  2. Miami: +1400
  3. New England: +1500
  4. New York: +1800

There's no bet to make here. The Jets have been a fun team to watch, Tua Tagovailoa is set to return, and Bailey Zappe has made the Patriots offense click, but this is Buffalo's division.

AFC North

Standings:

  1. Baltimore Ravens (3-3, 1-0)
  2. Cincinnati Bengals (3-3, 0-2)
  3. Cleveland Browns (2-4, 1-0)
  4. Pittsburgh Steelers (2-4, 1-1)

Odds to win division:

  1. Baltimore: -160
  2. Cincinnati: +225
  3. Cleveland: +750
  4. Pittsburgh: +1800

Cincinnati's offense came alive on Sunday, piling on 30 points. They have issues, but so do the other teams in this division. The +225 price is the best option we see in a log-jammed division.

AFC South

Standings:

  1. Tennessee Titans (3-2, 1-0)
  2. Indianapolis Colts (3-2-1, 1-2-1)
  3. Jacksonville Jaguars (2-4, 1-2)
  4. Houston Texans (1-3-1, 1-0-1)

Odds to win division:

  1. Tennessee: +135
  2. Indianapolis: +140
  3. Jacksonville: +400
  4. Houston: +2500

There was once a time we liked the Jaguars to win the AFC South, but that magic has seemingly fizzled. This is a really hard division to figure out, and with seven others to consider a wager, we're going to stay away ourselves.

AFC West

Standings:

  1. Kansas City Chiefs (4-2, 2-0)
  2. Los Angeles Chargers (4-2, 2-1)
  3. Denver Broncos (2-4, 0-2)
  4. Las Vegas Raiders (1-4, 1-2)

Odds to win division:

  1. Kansas City: -190
  2. Los Angeles: +200
  3. Las Vegas: +1800
  4. Denver: +2000

Denver went from offseason darlings to the market drastically souring on them in just six weeks. The Chargers are 4-2, but we're missing that "wow" game from them, they've plodded along a bit this season. This is the Chiefs division, they remain one of the NFL's best.
