Myles Garrett trade rumors have cooled down over the past few weeks, but they could heat up with the 2026 NFL Draft right around the corner. The former first-overall pick, Garrett has lived up to his pre-draft billing and then some, establishing himself as one of the game’s all-time great pass rushers over the past nine seasons. However, some teams believe he could be on the trade block despite recently signing a record-setting extension.
Garrett previously requested a trade, but that came before his extension. Now set to earn more money than any other pass rusher in history, most expect the rebuilding Browns to retain their superstar edge defender, rather than trade him for a king’s ransom. However, one executive believes the Browns are planning on trading Garrett during the 2026 NFL Draft.
This report comes from Mike Sando of The Athletic. While he doesn’t name the executive, Sando reports the anonymous higher-up believes a Myles Garrett trade will happen because the team pushed back his option bonus date. While Cleveland won’t give him away for nothing, this does suggest they’d be willing to ship him off for a small fortune. While it’s unlikely, the following three teams are in a position to make an offer the Browns cannot refuse.
The New England Patriots have a franchise quarterback in Drake Maye on a cost-controlled contract. After making the Super Bowl last year, the team must reload and capitalize on Maye’s rookie deal, as the team will face a considerably tougher schedule in 2026. A Myles Garrett trade would be a perfect way to show that this team is serious about winning it all and proving that last year wasn’t a fluke.
Why not? The Kansas City Chiefs have two first-round picks, and they’d likely need to part with those and more to trade for Myles Garrett. This is a heavy price to pay for one player, especially when the Chiefs could use an infusion of young talent. However, it’s hard to pass on the opportunity to get a player as good as Garrett. Patrick Mahomes is still an elite quarterback, and having him under center and Garrett getting after the opposing quarterback will automatically make this team one of the most dangerous in football.
Much like the Patriots, the New Orleans Saints have a potential franchise quarterback on a rookie contract in second-year passer Tyler Shough. Shough isn’t as proven as Maye, but the Louisville product looked the part down the stretch last year. If New Orleans truly believes he has what it takes to be a legitimate franchise quarterback, they could surprise everyone and trade for Myles Garrett. The Saints have holes throughout their roster, but General Manager Mickey Loomis has always believed in pursuing elite high-end talent and has never shied away from making aggressive trades during the draft.
