The Bengals officially placed the franchise tag on Tee Higgins on Monday. That means the 25-year-old is set to make $21.8 million this season unless the two sides can agree to a contract extension before July 15.
Would Cincinnati consider trading the star receiver?
Ari Meirov of The 33rd Team believes the Bengals may be able to get a first round pick in a Higgins deal.
"If they were to consider doing that, there would be multiple suitors that would be interested in giving up a really good pick, plus give him a contract for a 25-year-old receiver that can be a No. 1 for a team," Meirov said.
He also added that "several team executives believe the Bengals could get a first round pick or an early second round pick" in a trade for Higgins.
If the Bengals are open to trading Higgins, then this is the week to have those talks. The entire NFL world will be in Indianapolis for the 2024 NFL Combine.
