Week 4 was a rough showing for the Carolina Panthers, as they lost embarrassingly to the New England Patriots 42-13. One of their many rough moments came when a back-breaking penalty from safety Nick Scott extended a drive for the Patriots, where they went on to score. That play hurt the team on the field, and is now hurting Scott's wallet thanks to a recent decision by the NFL.

The NFL announced that they have fined 20 players for illegal acts in Week 4. Scott has been fined $7,431 for tripping a player in the second quarter. As mentioned above, the play was flagged during the game and ultimately proved costly for the Panthers, who conceded a score as a result.
Scott's fine was the fifth-cheapest handed out by the league this week. But he has had to deal with fans being upset with his mistake and his play on the field all week. Some fans have even gone so far as to call for the team to cut the seven-year veteran. Scott has played and started for the Panthers in each of their four games this season and has recorded 17 total tackles and one pass deflection.
Next up, the 1-3 Panthers are set to host the 1-3 Miami Dolphins in Week 5. The Panthers' only win this season was a dominant 30-0 win against their NFC South rivals, the Atlanta Falcons. They will look to get back in the win column against a Dolphins team that has struggled defensively all year and lost their star pass catcher, Tyreek Hill, to a season-ending injury in Week 4. And if I had to guess, Scott will be back out there as a starter for the Panthers in Week 5, even if some fans won't like it.
