Dan Marino is widely considered one of the greatest quarterbacks in NFL history.

Amid the 2025 season, all eyes are on the current players on top of the rankings, such as Patrick Mahomes, Joe Burrow, Jalen Hurts and Josh Allen.

Years ago, Marino was calling the shots. He did so for the Miami Dolphins, where he played for the AFC team for 17 years, from 1983 to 1999.

While Marino is deep into retirement, the NFL legend spoke with People magazine, revealing an unfortunate ailment.

Marnio has announced that he has MASH, which is referred to as metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis. This was formerly called a nonalcoholic fatty liver disease.

"Those are the things I kind of noticed," Marino said. "Then they told me I had a fatty liver. I had MASH."

NFL legend Dan Marino later mentioned that he let his diet go after retiring from the league years ago, mentioning that the diagnosis has made him feel fatigue at 63.

Marino is now speaking out about the diagnosis and sharing the news with Novo Nordisk's Unordinary Stories.

"That's what makes me feel good about this [campaign]," Marino said, sharing he wants to "get people aware of it, so maybe they can get treated and it can make a difference in their lives."

Throughout Dan Marino's career with the Miami Dolphins, he earned nine Pro Bowl appearances and three All-Pro honors.

Marino was also inducted into the Hall of Fame after retiring from the NFL.
