NFL Legend Michael Irvin Doesn't Hold Back on Cowboys During Broncos Game

Dallas Cowboys legend Michael Irvin was not at all pleased with what he saw from his team’s performance on Sunday against the Denver Broncos. After securing a dominant 44-22 win over the Washington Commanders in Week 7, the Cowboys fell crashing back down to earth with a deflating 44-24 loss on Sunday.

Dak Prescott has been impressive for Dallas this season, but he turned in a lackluster performance against Denver with 19-of-31 completed passes for 188 yards, zero touchdowns and two interceptions. However, the Cowboys’ defense was even worse, and the secondary’s embarrassing effort did not escape the ire of Irvin.

Irvin was an integral part of the Cowboys’ dynasty era in the early 1990s, when they won three Super Bowl titles in four years. He was named a Pro Bowler for five straight years, leading to his inclusion in the Hall of Fame All-1990s Team. The iconic wide receiver was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2007.

Irving certainly knows a lot about winning, which is why he could not hide his frustration after witnessing Dallas’ forgettable loss on Sunday. The 59-year-old did not hold back in making his feelings about the Cowboys defense known.

“This CAN NOT be an @NFL defense that’s wearing the @dallascowboys helmets !!!!!!” Irving posted on X.

Dallas entered Sunday’s contest ranked 30th in the NFL in run defense, and their shortcomings were on full display against the Broncos. They allowed Denver a total of 179 rushing yards and two touchdowns in the game.

The Cowboys’ pass defense was far from great, too, with Broncos quarterback Bo Nix having a big night with 19-of-29 completed passes for 247 yards, four touchdowns and one interception.

The silver lining for the Cowboys is that they get a chance to right the ship in their next game. They will be back in action in Week 9 in a “Monday Night Football” showdown against the Arizona Cardinals.

Dallas will look to improve on its 3-4-1 record in a home game at AT&T Stadium, with kickoff for the primetime matchup scheduled for 9:15 p.m. ET.
