Peyton Manning is widely considered one of the greatest quarterbacks in NFL history. In his 17 years in the league, the former Indianapolis Colts and Denver Broncos star recorded 71,940 passing yards and 539 touchdowns, en route to setting all sorts of NFL records along the way.

Now that he’s retired, Manning has remained close to the league with his weekly "ManningCast" commentary show. This is part of ESPN’s coverage of “Monday Night Football” alongside his brother, Eli Manning. Peyton Manning has also established his own production company, Omaha Productions, which recently announced a bit of news that is close to the Hall of Fame quarterback’s heart.

Before Manning made it big in the NFL, the two-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback cut his teeth with the Tennessee Volunteers between 1994 and 1997. This was when he crossed paths with legendary coach Pat Summitt, who served as the head coach of the Tennessee Lady Vols Basketball team from 1974 to 2012. Among other achievements, Summitt led the Lady Vols to eight NCAA titles during her 38 years at the helm.

In 2011, Summitt was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease. She retired from coaching in 2012. The seven-time NCAA Coach of the Year passed away in June 2016, two weeks after her 64th birthday.

Manning considers Summitt to be one of the most important people in his life. On Friday, the Hall of Fame quarterback shared some news about how he intends to honor the coaching icon through his production company.

“It’s an honor for @omahaproductions to be recognizing my mentor, friend and legendary @ladyvol_hoops coach, Pat Summitt, with this great event celebrating her life and impact,” Manning posted on Instagram.

Manning shared a post from Omaha Productions, which provides the details to “Celebrating Pat Summitt: A Live Reunion Special.” According to the post, it is a “storytelling event reuniting legendary former players, coaches, and friends to honor Pat Summitt’s extraordinary life and lasting impact.”

The special event will take place on Dec. 11 at the Tennessee Theater in Knoxville. Manning’s post provided a link for online ticket purchases. As of writing, ticket prices range from $52 to $86 each.

As for Manning’s day job, fans can catch him on the next episode of “ManningCast." He will provide commentary for the primetime “Monday Night Football” matchup between the Carolina Panthers and the San Francisco 49ers. “ManningCast” kicks off at 8:00 p.m. ET on ESPN2.
