San Francisco 49ers and Dallas Cowboys icon Terrell Owens firmly established himself as one of the greatest wide receivers in the history of the NFL during his decorated 15-year career. The former Chattanooga Mocs standout is, among other things, a five-time All-Pro, six-time Pro Bowler and was named part of the Hall of Fame All-2000s team.
In February 2018, Owens was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The Alexander City, Alabama native, however, opted not to attend his enshrinement ceremony in Carlton, Ohio. Instead, Owens celebrated his induction at his alma mater, the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
Owens’ loyalty to UTC cannot be questioned. He is a proud Moc through and through after having attended the university between 1992 and 1995. During that time, Owens amassed 144 career receptions for 2,230 receiving yards and 19 touchdowns. He ranks second in program history in both catches and receiving yards. During his time at Chattanooga, Owens also competed in basketball and track and field, excelling as a true multi-sport athlete.
On Friday, Owens announced on social media that he’s returning to his alma mater for a special event. It was previously revealed that the 51-year-old will take part in the upcoming Homecoming weekend. On Friday, it was announced that the NFL legend will be attending the Alumni Mixer on Wednesday.
“CHATTANOOGA!!! I’M COMING. Next week gonna be a HELLUVA week!!! #GOMOCS” he posted on Instagram.
