Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs lost to the Dallas Cowboys in their Thanksgiving game on Thursday, 31-28. The team dropped to 6-6 on the season in a massive blow to their playoff hopes.

Mahomes threw four touchdowns without an interception, all while completing 23 of his 34 passes for 261 yards. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough to counter a Dallas offense led by Dak Prescott who recorded 320 yards and two touchdowns.

Malik Davis also had a 43-yard touchdown run for the Cowboys, while Brandon Aubrey scored 11 points off field goals and made history in the process.

Despite the Chiefs' loss, though, it was still a historic night for Mahomes. After all, his performance allowed him to tie Russell Wilson for the second-most passing touchdowns by a player in their first nine career seasons.

The NFL announced the achievement during the Chiefs' game against the Cowboys.

Wilson had 267 passing touchdowns in his first nine seasons in the NFL. Mahomes entered the Thanksgiving contest with the Cowboys with 263 passing TDs.

The 2025 season is also Mahomes' ninth year in the NFL after being selected 10th overall by the Chiefs in the 2017 Draft.

Considering Mahomes' current pace, he's well on track to take solo claim of the second spot before the season ends. He is also set to surpass Peyton Manning on the list, with the NFL legend recording 275 passing TDs in his first nine seasons.

The Chiefs have five games remaining this season. They face the Houston Texans next before playing the Los Angeles Chargers, Tennessee Titans, Denver Broncos and Las Vegas Raiders.
