
Caleb Williams picked up where he left off during Sunday’s NFL season opener against the Carolina Panthers. The Chicago Bears quarterback delivered an impressive performance to lead the team to a winning start. The NFL made an announcement involving one of his plays from Week 1.
Williams completed 21-of-29 passes for 269 yards and two touchdowns in the 59-37 victory. He added 10 rushing attempts for 65 yards and two more scores. The 2022 Heisman Trophy winner shined by once again showcasing his elite skill set and cool demeanor despite the Panthers’ defense consistently pressuring him.
He has a chance to continue proving his critics wrong this year. Williams is coming off a breakthrough season where he led Chicago to an 11-6 record, winning the NFC North and reaching the Divisional Round.
Williams’ second rushing touchdown last Sunday earned Madden’s Week 1 moment. It came with 32 seconds left in the second quarter, with the 24-year-old scoring off a 29-yard run to the end zone. EA Sports recreated the play on Madden 27, which Williams is the cover athlete of.

Williams and the Bears will play their next three games at Soldier Field. They will face the Minnesota Vikings before hosting the Philadelphia Eagles and New York Jets in Weeks 3 and 4. A road matchup with Chicago’s rivals, the Green Bay Packers, is set for the following week.
The USC Trojans product shared an update about his health status after the season-opening win. He stressed that he feels good about his conditioning and looks forward to remaining healthy this year. The Bears are relying heavily on him to lead them to a deeper playoff run and potentially compete for a Super Bowl.
