We have been looking into a few quarterbacks to win MVP this upcoming football season, and this will be our last in the series.
We began with Tom Brady, hopped over to Josh Allen, then went for some long odds in my personal favorite value spot: Trey Lance.
We head back to the AFC for our final MVP pick of the 2022 NFL season: Justin Herbert.
Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert is currently +1000 to win MVP on DraftKings and +900 on FanDuel. On both books, that is good for the fourth-highest odds in the league.
Herbert is headed into his third NFL season, with the first two being a strong, solidifying entrance to the league. 2020 saw Herbert toss 31 touchdowns to 10 interceptions, winning Offensive Rookie of the Year honors.

The numbers ballooned in 2021: Herbert finished with 5,014 passing yards, 38 touchdowns, 15 interceptions, tacking on 302 rushing yards and three scores with his legs. Herbert helped lead Los Angeles to a 9-8 record, falling just short of an AFC playoff spot.
The passing yards were the second-highest in the NFL behind Tom Brady, encouraging stuff from such a young passer.
So, now why to bet on Justin Herbert to bring home MVP honors. Herbert leads a promising Chargers team that has high hopes in 2022. DraftKings has put the Chargers' odds of reaching the Super Bowl at +750, the third-highest in the AFC.
This is a team with a strong defense, an offensive line that has become a strength, and dynamic skill-position players in Keenan Allen, Mike Williams and Austin Ekeler.
Herbert just passes that eye-test you look for in a young QB, he has the athleticism and arm-strength that elevates those around him.
If you believe in the Chargers to win the AFC West and rise to the top of a packed conference, Herbert's performance is very likely to be a massive reason why.
As I broke down in my AFC West betting preview, I do believe in Los Angeles, and as such, I believe in their quarterback.
Additionally, as noted in my Josh Allen MVP article, I think the MVP will ultimately come from the AFC. The reason being that whoever becomes one of the top teams from this conference deserves recognition: the AFC truly looks like a beast this upcoming season.
After Buffalo, the team I'm most optimistic takes that step is the Chargers. Give me the Pro Bowl quarterback in Herbert to take home the win here, and we can load him up at +1000.
If he starts strong and inches over 40 passing touchdowns while exceeding 5,000 yards again, Herbert could very well be the one bringing home this award by season's end.
Betting: Justin Herbert MVP +1000
