NFL player prop: He’s back, baby!

Just as royalty checks from the Super Terrific Happy Hour provided a revenue stream for Jerry on "Seinfeld," player props on Super Wild Card Weekend can help bettors turn a tidy profit. The postseason opener, fittingly airing on NBC, features the Browns visiting the Texans for the second time in three weeks. Houston’s C.J. Stroud missed the Christmas Eve matchup due to a concussion, and as he tries to become one of the rare quarterbacks to win his playoff debut, he figures to lean on the versatile veteran we’re backing for our top prop:

The bet: Over 14½ receiving yards for Texans running back Devin Singletary (FanDuel)

A playoff participant in each of his four seasons with the Bills, Singletary signed a one-year contract with the rebuilding Texans and was expected to serve as a complement to Dameon Pierce. But he has claimed a workhorse role, playing a season-high 88% of the offensive snaps in last week’s victory over the Colts.

Although his pass-catching production has fluctuated, Singletary has delivered his three best receiving efforts since Thanksgiving. He made six receptions for 54 yards in a loss to the Jaguars and caught four for 49 in a win over the Titans. Both of those games were decided by a field goal, and Houston now stands as a small home underdog.

With a ferocious pass rush led by Defensive Player of the Year favorite Myles Garrett, the Browns often force QBs to check down. An opposing running back has cleared this number in each of Cleveland’s last four wins, and the yardage totals were especially high for the Jets’ Breece Hall (42) and the Jaguars’ Travis Etienne (37).

After posting 19 receiving yards in the previous meeting, Singletary should be the master of that domain once again.
