NFL 'SNF' Week 5: Two player prop bets for 49ers vs. Cowboys

Last Sunday night's game between the New York Giants and the Seattle Seahawks left a sour taste in our mouths, but this week's matchup between the 4-0 San Francisco 49ers and the 3-1 Dallas Cowboys should be much different. As we prepare for the game of the year through five weeks, let's take a look at two prop bets to target for "Sunday Night Football."

Brock Purdy over 7.5 rushing yards (-110 DraftKings)

Brocky Purdy has started 12 games for the 49ers. He's recorded 59 total rushing yards in those games, and he's gone over 7.5 rushing yards just twice. So, why are we targeting the over here?

This is all about how the Cowboys defense operates. Dallas' defensive front, led by Micah Parsons, is elite at rushing the passer and forcing him out of the pocket. Because of the constant pressure they create, the Cowboys have been susceptible to quarterback scrambles in the first four weeks.

Opposing QBs are averaging 8.0 rush attempts and 44.7 rushing yards per game against the Cowboys, which are both the highest marks in the NFL. Purdy won't be comfortable in the pocket for the first time all season, and he'll need to take off and run more than he's used to doing. He could cash this over on the first drive of the game.

Brandin Cooks longest reception under 17.5 yards (-110 DK)

The Cowboys brought in Brandin Cooks in the offseason to take over the No. 2 wide receiver spot in the offense, but it hasn't worked out that way so far. Through three games played, Cooks is averaging just 5.0 targets, 2.7 catches and 22.0 receiving yards. The veteran is recording only 8.25 yards per reception and hasn't been utilized as a down-field threat.

Micahel Gallup has been much more effective than Cooks over the last two weeks, and it's clear Dak Prescott trusts him more than the newcomer.

As for the matchup, the 49ers can put a ton of pressure on Prescott and force him into quick throws.
