Los Angeles Rams vs. Detroit Lions: Betting Odds

Sunday, Jan. 14, 2024, 8 p.m. ET (NBC, fubo)
Spread: Detroit -3, Over/under: 51.5 points, Los Angeles +145 | Detroit -175

The Lions have won the NFC North for the first time in 30 years, and they're hosting a playoff game, a foreign site for Detroit fans. That is thanks to their 12-5 season that has seen a team loaded with talent make plays week in and week out. This Lions team is legit, and while the defense has some holes, they've been strong against the run.

Detroit is 6-2 at home this year. One injury note to monitor is that of rookie TE Sam LaPorta, who injured his knee in Week 18. It sounds like it's unlikely we get him this weekend, which will be a hit for this Lions offense.

The Rams (10-7) are red-hot, winners of seven of their last eight games, with their lone loss an OT thriller against the AFC's best team: the Baltimore Ravens. That's about as good as it gets, and this team isn't that far removed from a Super Bowl title. Stafford is playing strong football, and Puka Nacua, Cooper Kupp and Demarcus Robinson are all producing from the WR position.

Los Angeles is 10-6-1 ATS, while Detroit is an NFL-best 12-5 ATS. The Rams are 9-8 to the over and the Lions are 11-6 to the over.

Betting Picks for Los Angeles vs. Detroit

Over 51.5 points

Both passing games seem set to pop here. Detroit's secondary has been nothing short but one of the worst in football for over a month now, continuously getting gashed by explosive chunk plays in the passing game.

That should help Matthew Stafford and this loaded WR room make plays. On the other end, the best way to attack Los Angeles is through the air, with an elite run defense in tow thanks to Aaron Donald leading the way. Expect Jared Goff and Amon-Ra St. Brown to continue rolling.

With both quarterbacks and aerial attacks looking like the play, this feels like the right time to load up the touchdowns and enjoy the show. Grab the over as we enjoy two high-flying offenses display why they're in the playoffs.
