NFL Week 10 What We Learned: Betting lessons for Week 11

The second half of the NFL regular season officially got underway on Thursday with Carolina upsetting Atlanta, but a lot of the trends from the first half of the season carried over into the start of the second half.

We'll have to wait till Monday night to see if Philadelphia can remain undefeated, but like we've said all year long — the under is killing it, the NFC South still doesn't have a team above .500, the Vikings just keep on rolling, and two teams are still tied for the best record against the spread.

Don't act surprised; betting the under is a must

The under entered Week 10 hitting at a 58% clip, and with just one remaining for the week, that number is going to remain intact. Entering the Monday night game, the under is 7-6, and has finished at least .500 or better in 10 of the first 11 weeks of the season.

Bucs stand atop NFC South with win over Seattle

The NFC South still doesn't have a team above .500, but the division does however have a team at last .500. Tampa Bay is 5-5 and now leads the NFC South by a full game after defeating the Seattle Seahawks, 21-16, in Germany on Sunday morning. The Bucs have now won back-to-back games entering their bye week.

Vikings take down Bills in overtime, extend win streak to 7

The Philadelphia Eagles have gotten all the attention — and rightfully so — after starting the season 10-0, but the Vikings are starting to gain some attention, too. Minnesota won its seventh straight game after defeating the Bills on the road, 33-30, in overtime, and are now 13/1 (odds via FanDuel) to win the Super Bowl.

Giants, Titans remain best teams against the spread

Dallas, Tennessee and the New York Giants entered Week 10 as the three best teams in the NFL against the spread at 6-2, but after the Cowboys got upset by the Green Bay Packers in overtime on Sunday, the Titans and Giants are now the two best teams against the spread. The Titans have covered the spread in a season-best eight straight games while the Giants have covered the spread in five of their last six games.

Experience is overrated

Indianapolis fired head coach Frank Reich last week after getting whupped by the New England Patriots, 26-3, in the team's third straight loss, but who the Colts elected to replace Reich with — Jeff Saturday — may have been the biggest surprise of the NFL season so far. Saturday entered Sunday's game against the Raiders with ZERO head coaching experience, but that didn't matter. Indianapolis upset Las Vegas, 25-20, on Sunday with a fourth-quarter, come-from-behind victory, and handed the Raiders their third straight loss.

Who says there's no crying in football?

Crying might not be allowed in baseball — Tom Hanks reference anyone? — but apparently, it is in football. Derek Carr cried during his postgame press conference following Sunday's 25-20 defeat against Indianapolis. The Raiders are 2-7 — second-worst record in the NFL — following Sunday's loss and have yet to win a game on the road.

9-Leg Anytime Touchdown Parlay wins $29.5K

One bettor won just over $29.5K after Christian McCaffrey completed the nine-leg anytime touchdown parlay on Sunday night. The $50.00 bet had +58978 odds and a $13,000 cash out offer before the Sunday night game between San Francisco and the Los Angeles Chargers.

One leg away from $135K

Another bettor wins just over $135K if Miles Sanders rushes for over 110 yards on Monday night against the Washington Commanders. The bettor hit on the first four legs of his parlay — Justin Fields over 110 rushing yards, Jeff Wilson Jr. over 80 rushing yards, Najee Harris over 80 rushing yards and Jonathan Taylor over 125 rushing yards.

Heading into Week 11

Aaron Rodgers and the Packers snapped their five-game skid with a 31-28 overtime win over Dallas on Sunday. Green Bay, who was the consensus favorite to win the NFC North before the seasons started, is now 20/1 (via FanDuel) to win the NFC North.

Houston remains the worst team in the NFL after losing to the New York Giants on Sunday. The Texans are 1-7-1 and have lost four straight games.

Tom Brady improved to 4-0 in his career in "international games" after the Tampa Bay Buccaneers defeated the Seattle Seahawks, 21-16, on Sunday morning in Germany. The win was also the first for the designated "home team" in an international game this year. The NFL concludes its International Series next week in Mexico City when San Francisco faces Arizona.
