- Notre Dame is now on a six-game post-season/bowl game winning streak. This beats the five-game run from the 1973 Sugar Bowl over Alabama for the national title to the Joe Montana Chicken Soup win over Houston in the 1979 Cotton. It's 24-21 helped by the expanded CFP.

- Since the start of the BCS-then-College Football Playoff era in 1998, Notre Dame has made just one national championship appearance, getting whacked 42-14 by Alabama to end the 2012 season.

Before that it was in the mix for national championships in the poll-and-bowl era, but didn’t win one since the 1988 season, finishing up with a 34-21 win over West Virginia in the Fiesta Bowl.
