One of the players who stands out to be in line for a huge Week 1 is Los Angeles Chargers running back Omarion Hampton.

Arizona’s Run Defense is the Perfect Matchup for Omarion Hampton

When trying to defend the run in 2025, the Arizona Cardinals were one of the worst, as they gave up 2,158 rushing yards and 19 touchdowns. For Hampton, this creates a great matchup for him in Week 1.

For Hampton, who is 220 pounds and possesses the power to run through contact and create explosive runs, he should be able to frequently have success against this Cardinals defensive line. 

The game script should also favor Hampton. With how explosive the Chargers’ offense should be, it shouldn’t take them long to build a lead, which will lead to Hampton seeing more carries to keep the lead and not risk any turnovers. 

Miek McDaniel’s scheme has also gotten the most out of the running backs. With all these factors, Hampton is set up to have a major 2026 season, and that starts with Week 1 against the Cardinals, where he should finish with over 20 points.
