One player from each team who could make the Pro Bowl for the first time

The Pro Bowl has fallen out of favor among NFL fans and even players over the last few years, but it's still an honor to be voted into the game.

Here is one player from each team who could make his first Pro Bowl this January:

1 of 32

Arizona Cardinals - Jordan Hicks, LB

Arizona Cardinals - Jordan Hicks, LB
Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

As is true with many players on this list, it's a bit surprising that Hicks hasn't made the Pro Bowl already. Injury-shortened seasons probably explain that, but his 116 tackles, which is second-most in the league, and three interceptions for the Cardinals this season make him a prime candidate to debut in the Pro Bowl this January.

Atlanta Falcons - Grady Jarrett, DT

Atlanta Falcons - Grady Jarrett, DT
Dale Zanine-USA TODAY Sports

It's been a rough season for the Falcons, especially the defense, but Jarrett has turned into a star. He has 5.5 sacks and 55 tackles, both of which place Jarrett on track to set new career highs. Jarrett has a strong chance to play in his first Pro Bowl at the end of the season.

Baltimore Ravens - Lamar Jackson, QB

Baltimore Ravens - Lamar Jackson, QB
Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

This is an easy one, as Jackson is the front-runner to win the MVP award through 12 weeks. After six touchdowns the last two weeks, he is second in the NFL with 25 passing touchdowns and is averaging 7.9 yards per attempt. Jackson also has 977 rushing yards and is first in the NFL with 7.0 yards per rush.

Buffalo Bills - Jordan Phillips, DT

Buffalo Bills - Jordan Phillips, DT
Mark Konezny-USA TODAY Sports

One team's trash is another team's treasure. The former Dolphin just began as a starter at the beginning of November, but Phillips has incredible numbers from the entire season — 7.5 sacks, 23 total tackles, including 10 tackles for loss and 12 quarterback hits. He already has more sacks this year than he did in the first four seasons of his career, and Phillips could accomplish the same feat in the tackles-for-loss category.

Carolina Panthers, Mario Addison, DE

Carolina Panthers, Mario Addison, DE
Jeremy Brevard-USA TODAY Sports

Addison has posted at least 9.0 sacks in each of the last three years, but he has yet to make the Pro Bowl. In 11 games this season, he has 9.5 sacks, 27 tackles, six tackles for loss and 13 quarterback hits. It's time Addison finally gets his due with a Pro Bowl nomination.

Chicago Bears - Nick Williams, DT

Chicago Bears - Nick Williams, DT
Kena Krutsinger-USA TODAY Sports

The 29-year-old has started just one game, but after going sackless in the first four seasons of his career, Williams has 6.0 sacks in 2019. He also has 32 tackles, five tackles for loss and nine quarterback hits — all of which is more than what he accumulated in his first four seasons combined. Williams probably won't get the fan vote, but he's played well enough to be Pro Bowl-worthy.

Cincinnati Bengals - Joe Mixon, RB

Cincinnati Bengals - Joe Mixon, RB
David Kohl-USA TODAY Sports

There aren't many choices from the Bengals for the Pro Bowl, but Mixon is a worthy selection. His numbers are down from last season, but he's running hard for a bad team and should reach 1,000 yards from scrimmage by the end of the season.

8 of 32

Cleveland Browns - Nick Chubb, RB

Cleveland Browns - Nick Chubb, RB
Ken Blaze-USA TODAY Sports

With already five 100-yard rushing games and two more contests with at least 90 yards, Chubb has emerged as one of the best backs in the league and a candidate in the rushing title race. Chubb has 1,175 rushing yards and 1,420 yards from scrimmage while averaging 4.9 yards per carry this season.

Dallas Cowboys - Jaylon Smith, LB

Dallas Cowboys - Jaylon Smith, LB
Matthew Emmons-USA TODAY Sports

The 24-year-old doesn't get a lot of sacks, but he had 121 tackles last year, and he's on pace for 149 this season. Without fellow Cowboys linebacker Leighton Vander Esch, who is experiencing a down season and is currently dealing with a neck injury, to block him, Smith is primed to make his first Pro Bowl appearance.

10 of 32

Denver Broncos - Justin Simmons, S

Denver Broncos - Justin Simmons, S
Isaiah J. Downing-USA TODAY Sports

The Broncos don't have a lot of quality Pro Bowl candidates in general, let alone players who are searching for their first Pro Bowl appearances. If any Denver player makes his first Pro Bowl, though, it will likely be Simmons. He has 70 tackles, three interceptions and 10 pass defenses in 12 games this season.

Detroit Lions - Kenny Golladay, WR

Detroit Lions - Kenny Golladay, WR
Mike DiNovo-USA TODAY Sports

Up until Thanksgiving, his numbers had dipped a bit without Matthew Stafford, but Golladay is still among the leaders with a 20.2 yards per reception average. He is on pace for a new career high in receiving yards and already has eight touchdowns. Golladay has 47 catches for 950 yards this season.

12 of 32

Green Bay Packers - Aaron Jones, RB

Green Bay Packers - Aaron Jones, RB
Jeff Hanisch-USA TODAY Sports

His yards per carry average is down, but with more touches, Jones has surpassed 1,000 yards from scrimmage, and he is among the leaders with 14 total touchdowns. Jones has 645 rushing yards and 11 rushing touchdowns in 12 games this year.

13 of 32

Houston Texans - Laremy Tunsil, T

Houston Texans - Laremy Tunsil, T
Derick E. Hingle-USA TODAY Sports

It's tough to foresee first-time Pro Bowlers on the offensive line, but Tunsil has as good of a chance as any lineman searching for his first appearance in Orlando. He made headlines when the Texans traded their first-round pick for him just before the season, and he's helped decrease Deshaun Watson's sack totals. If the Texans make the playoffs and Watson continues to be in the MVP conversation, Tunsil will be a Pro Bowl candidate.

Indianapolis Colts - Darius Leonard, LB

Indianapolis Colts - Darius Leonard, LB
Brian Spurlock-USA TODAY Sports

The 24-year-old made the All-Pro team last year but not the Pro Bowl, so he still qualifies for this list. Leonard's numbers are down compared to last season, but he's missed a few games because of injury. His reputation as a first-year All-Pro member could garner him Pro Bowl votes despite his worst statistical season, in 2019.

15 of 32

Jacksonville Jaguars - Leonard Fournette, RB

Jacksonville Jaguars - Leonard Fournette, RB
Brian Spurlock-USA TODAY Sport

He has only three touchdowns, but Fournette is averaging 4.5 yards per carry, which is 1.2 yards more than what he averaged last season. He's also improved dramatically as a pass-catcher — he could potentially post more catches and receiving yards than he did in his first two seasons combined. Fournette should reach the 1,000-yard rushing mark this Sunday.

Kansas City Chiefs - Chris Jones, DT

Kansas City Chiefs - Chris Jones, DT
Jay Biggerstaff-USA TODAY Sports

It's absolutely shocking that Jones posted 15.5 sacks and didn't make the Pro Bowl in 2018, but all of the focus was on Kansas City's offense last year. The Chiefs are still elite on offense, and their defense struggles, but with Jones missing a handful of games this fall, fans saw how much worse the Chiefs defense is without him. At the very least, he should make the Pro Bowl this year to right a wrong from last season, but he's worthy of another Pro Bowl bid in 2019 anyway.

17 of 32

Los Angeles Chargers - Austin Ekeler, RB

Los Angeles Chargers - Austin Ekeler, RB
Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

He hasn't been as efficient this season, with only a 3.7 yards per carry average, but Ekeler did a tremendous job of filling the void left during Melvin Gordon's holdout. Even since Gordon returned, Ekeler has still possessed a major role and already has 1,098 yards from scrimmage. That's a new career high, and he's on pace for 92 catches and 957 receiving yards this year.

Los Angeles Rams - Cooper Kupp, WR

Los Angeles Rams - Cooper Kupp, WR
Robert Hanashiro-USA TODAY Sports

With the Rams offense awakening in Week 13, so did Kupp, who scored his first touchdown Sunday since posting a career-high 220 receiving yards against the Bengals in London during Week 8. Kupp already has 73 receptions and 945 receiving yards this season, which are both career bests.

Miami Dolphins - DeVante Parker, WR

Miami Dolphins - DeVante Parker, WR
Rich Barnes-USA TODAY Sports

Somebody has to make the Pro Bowl from the Dolphins, so it might as well be Parker. With 53 receptions and 854 receiving yards, he already has a new career high in receiving yards and needs five more receptions for the same in that category.

Minnesota Vikings - Dalvin Cook, RB

Minnesota Vikings - Dalvin Cook, RB
Tim Heitman-USA TODAY Sports

In contention for the rushing title, Cook has given the smash-mouth, ball-control philosophy back to the Vikings. Cook has 1,046 rushing yards and has surpassed 1,500 yards from scrimmage through 12 games this season. He's averaging 4.7 yards per carry and has 12 touchdowns too.

New England Patriots - Julian Edelman, WR

New England Patriots - Julian Edelman, WR
David Butler II-USA TODAY Sports

Believe it or not, Edelman has never made the Pro Bowl — the No. 1 reason why it was crazy people called Edelman a Hall of Famer following his Super Bowl MVP performance. But he's deserving of finally making his first Pro Bowl. The Patriots have experienced their fair share of problems offensively this season, but Edelman's production is still the same if not better. He has 82 catches for 915 receiving yards and five touchdowns in 12 games.

New Orleans Saints - Demario Davis, LB

New Orleans Saints - Demario Davis, LB
Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

With at least 110 tackles each of the last two seasons, including a league-high 97 solos in 2017, Davis was Pro Bowl-worthy two years ago and in 2018. He's posting similar numbers this season, and maybe finally he'll break through. The fact the Saints needed their defense to carry the load without Drew Brees for five weeks should help Davis in the fan vote.

New York Giants, Markus Golden, OLB

New York Giants, Markus Golden, OLB
Mike DiNovo-USA TODAY Sports

The Giants don't have many quality Pro Bowl candidates, but Golden is one who could make his debut in Orlando. He has 7.5 sacks, 10 tackles for loss and 17 quarterback hits, giving him an opportunity to set new career bests in all three categories. Golden has already set a new career high in tackles as well.

New York Jets - Sam Darnold, QB

New York Jets - Sam Darnold, QB
Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

It felt as though Darnold was heading for the "bust" category after he was seeing ghosts on "Monday Night Football" and then lost to the winless Dolphins two weeks later. He just lost to another winless team — the Bengals. But before playing Cincinnati, Darnold averaged 8.6 yards per attempt with eight touchdowns and two interceptions in four games. If he bounces back quickly from the poor performance against the Bengals, Darnold has a shot at the Pro Bowl because of the market he plays in and due to the fact so many veteran quarterbacks tend to skip the event.

Oakland Raiders - Maxx Crosby, LB

Oakland Raiders - Maxx Crosby, LB
Darren Yamashita-USA TODAY Sports

It was a slow start for the rookie Crosby this year, but he's come on strong with 5.5 sacks in the last three weeks. If he continues to play well in December, a Pro Bowl appearance is certainly possible. Crosby has 7.5 sacks, 12 tackles for loss and 12 quarterback hits in 12 games, including six starts, this season.

Philadelphia Eagles - Brandon Graham, DE

Philadelphia Eagles - Brandon Graham, DE
Eric Hartline-USA TODAY Sports

Fletcher Cox hasn't been 100 percent this season, but Graham has continued to produce despite not having his teammate and fellow defensive lineman drawing as many double teams. Graham has 7.5 sacks, 39 tackles, 10 tackles for loss and 15 quarterback hits. He is on pace for his first double-digit sack year.

Pittsburgh Steelers - Minkah Fitzpatrick, S

Pittsburgh Steelers - Minkah Fitzpatrick, S
Philip G. Pavely-USA TODAY Sports

What a difference Fitzpatrick has made for the Steelers defense. Pittsburgh allowed 61 points in the first two weeks, but with Fitzpatrick now in the fold, the Steelers are second in takeaways and in the top 10 in total defense and points allowed. Fitzpatrick is tied for the NFL lead with five interceptions and has scored two touchdowns.

San Francisco 49ers - Jimmy Garoppolo, QB

San Francisco 49ers - Jimmy Garoppolo, QB
Stan Szeto-USA TODAY Sports

He's not in the MVP conversation like fellow second-year starter Lamar Jackson, but Garoppolo is another easy choice at quarterback to make his Pro Bowl debut in January. Garoppolo has 21 touchdowns and 10 interceptions with an 8.1 yards per attempt average. He's getting better too, as in the last five games, he has 12 touchdowns and only three interceptions.

Seattle Seahawks - Tre Flowers, CB

Seattle Seahawks - Tre Flowers, CB
Scott R. Galvin-USA TODAY Sports

One of the reasons Russell Wilson is a top choice for MVP is because it's hard picking who else may make the Pro Bowl for the Seahawks. Of course they have other great players, but the roster isn't as star-studded as it was five years ago. Flowers could potentially make his first Pro Bowl as a second-year player. He has three interceptions, 1.0 sack, 59 tackles and seven pass defenses this season.

30 of 32

Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Shaquil Barrett, OLB

Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Shaquil Barrett, OLB
Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

Here's another slam dunk to make his first Pro Bowl. Barrett leads the league with 14.5 sacks this season. He also has 13 tackles for loss and 26 quarterback hits. Barrett could finish with more sacks, tackles for loss and quarterback hits this year than the previous four seasons combined.

31 of 32

Tennessee Titans - Logan Ryan, CB

Tennessee Titans - Logan Ryan, CB
Jim Brown-USA TODAY Sports

Ryan appears to have the numbers to finally make his first Pro Bowl. He has four interceptions and 3.5 sacks; he needs one more pick and 0.5 sacks to tie career bests in each category. Ryan also has a league-leading 17 pass defenses.

Washington Redskins - Terry McLaurin, WR

Washington Redskins - Terry McLaurin, WR
Amber Searls-USA TODAY Sports

The rookie has been a bright spot for the otherwise disappointing Redskins. McLaurin has 42 catches for 646 receiving yards and five touchdowns in 11 games. It will be difficult to make the Pro Bowl team with those numbers, but he has a shot to be Washington's lone representative in Orlando.
