One Potential Lamar Jackson Decision Could Benefit Baltimore Ravens in a Massive Way

The Baltimore Ravens had a remarkable 2024 season, finishing with a 12-5 record and clinching the AFC North title.

Much of their success is due to the performances of quarterback Lamar Jackson.

The Baltimore quarterback posted impressive stats, throwing for 4,172 yards, 41 touchdowns, and only four interceptions, while also rushing for 915 yards and four touchdowns.

As the Ravens look ahead to the offseason, one of the biggest decisions they face is whether to retain veteran offensive tackle Ronnie Stanley, who is set to become a free agent.

The team is also looking to bolster their wide receiver corps and offensive line through the draft and free agency.

However, a potential decision regarding Lamar Jackson's contract could have a massive impact on the team's cap space and future signings.

"General Manager Eric DeCosta acknowledged at the Ravens' end-of-season news conference that he will probably talk to Jackson, who doesn't have an agent, about his contract this offseason," Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic wrote."

"Jackson's $43.7 million cap hit is the highest on the team, and it grows to over $74 million in 2026 and 2027. The two-time MVP's contract has to be addressed at some point, and star quarterbacks aren't suddenly going to get cheaper."

If the team is really successful in restructuring Jackson's contract, they could use that money to try to retain Stanley. This would make the Ravens a real Super Bowl contender.
