The entire sports world got to witness the epic collapse of the Baltimore Ravens as they blew a 15-point lead late in the fourth quarter to lose to the Buffalo Bills 41-40 on Sunday night.
Baltimore failed to capitalize on the lead as the offense stalled out multiple times, with running back Derrick Henry fumbling late in the game to give the Bills a chance to tie the game. Buffalo ultimately got a game-winning field goal as time expired to take the win.
The debate between Bills quarterback Josh Allen and Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson seamlessly ended with Allen getting the advantage. Another conversation needs to be had with a certain Philadelphia Eagles quarterback who continues to be disrespected by the media.
CBS Sports Eagles and NFL writer Jeff Kerr shared an interesting stat that shows that Jalen Hurts is clutch compared to Jackson and Allen:
Everyone always wants to talk about how talented Allen and Jackson are and that Hurts doesn't "throw the ball" enough, but the one thing that always seems to come back with Hurts: He's a winner. When the game is on the line and Hurts needs to keep a lead, he can do that.
While it wasn't a seven-point lead, Hurts showed it in the fourth quarter of the Eagles' 24-20 win over the Dallas Cowboys in Week 1. Dallas was stopping the Eagles' running game for most of the quarter, so Hurts had to put the team on his back and make clutch throws and ran to convert a critical third and three on the final drive to seal the win.
Sure, Jackson and Allen have an MVP each over Hurts, but Hurts is better than them when it comes down to the postseason. Hurts has two Super Bowl appearances, one Super Bowl win, and one Super Bowl MVP. Jackson and Allen can't say that.
It won't always look the prettiest, but the one thing that Hurts has over Jackson and, very slightly, over Allen is that he can win when it matters the most.
