One team still makes sense for Stefon Diggs

With the 2026 NFL Draft in the books, some of the most prominent names on the market are still up for grabs.

That includes Stefon Diggs, whom the New England Patriots cut loose early in the offseason, presumably for bookkeeping purposes.

Diggs' market has been rather quiet, which, given his off-the-field stories, makes sense.

However, with the draft dust settling, multiple teams could give him a call. Of all the WR-needy teams, perhaps the Los Angeles Rams make the most sense.

The Los Angeles Rams and Stefon Diggs need one another

As much as they want to convince people otherwise, the Rams' decision to take Ty Simpson at No. 13 was a bit of a blunder.

They could've taken Makai Lemon or Kenyon Sadiq to maximize their Super Bowl window, especially given that Davante Adams -- who they considered trading -- will turn 34 next season.

As such, Diggs would give them a short-term stopgap at wide receiver alongside Adams and budding star Puka Nacua, and he'd be a significant upgrade over Jordan Whittington, the other projected starter.

The Rams already struck gold when they signed a trouble-making wideout when they acquired Odell Beckham Jr. in their Super Bowl-winning season.

Unlike OBJ, Diggs isn't in his prime anymore, but he's coming off a 1,000-yard season after suffering a major injury, so clearly, he can still contribute.

Also, putting his head down, getting to work and thriving in Sean McVay's electric offense should help his case that he's worth the trouble, given his well-documented issues off the field.

This looks like a match made in heaven, and after using a top-15 pick on a quarterback who may not play for two years -- if ever -- the Rams could certainly use a win in free agency.
