Even with Jordyn Tyson impressing in a private workout, there should still be plenty of doubts about his durability.
That might still leave Ohio State star Carnell Tate as the undisputed WR1 in the 2026 NFL Draft, as even though his ceiling may not be as high, his floor certainly might be higher.
Considering that, it's hard to believe the Cleveland Browns will pass on a chance to get him if they can. They can't afford to roll the dice on an injury-prone prospect like Tyson, so they might go with a homegrown talent and take the Ohio State Buckeye.
As talented as Tate is, some argue that he may not be as effective in the pros because he won't have Jeremiah Smith by his side drawing the tougher matchups.
That's fair to a degree, but Tate's ability to dominate in contested-catch situations is second to none in this class, and so are his reliable hands. Playing for an offensive-minded head coach like Todd Monken will certainly help ease the transition to the pros. Also, he's drawn comparisons to George Pickens — both in terms of physique and style of play — and Monken coached Pickens at Georgia, so he certainly knows how to use that type of player.
Granted, the Browns need as much help as they can get, and they desperately need a superstar-caliber prospect. Nevertheless, they can probably roll the dice with another high-upside/risky prospect further down in the big board, as Tate is the safest bet for a team that cannot afford to mess things up again.
