ARLINGTON - The second of the two matchups this season between the Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants had a similar feel to the first installation. A few big plays snuck through a mostly ugly half of football, leaving the Cowboys up 13-10 at halftime here at AT&T Stadium on Thanksgiving.
Dallas picked up where it left off in the fourth quarter against Washington, moving surgically down the field, getting to the New York five yard line. Unable to get into the end zone, they settled for a Brandon Aubrey field goal.
The Giants would not settle on their first possession. Converting a fourth down and moving into Cowboys' territory, Drew Lock scrambled 29 yards on a third down play, crashing through the pylon before being ruled down a yard short.
Tyrone Tracy would take the next carry across the goal line, scoring the touchdown and putting New York up 7-3.
Dallas' next time out they established more of a presence on the ground. A 22-yard carry and then another 13-yard run by Rico Dowdle had the Cowboys' offense churning as the quarter came to a close.
The Cowboys would move into the red zone at the Giants' 15, but halted again and Aubrey kicked his second field goal to pull within 7-6.
Though the Dallas offense had grown a tad stagnant, the defense would provide a needed spark on the first play of the Giants' next drive. DeMarvion Overshown shed his block reached into Lock's passing lane and tipped a ball that would land in his grasp. The Dallas linebacker returned the interception 23 yards for the touchdown to give the Cowboys a 13-7 lead.
A drive-ending sack would have the Giants off the field in three plays following that pick. Looking for another extended possession, the Cowboys got to midfield before a CeeDee Lamb drop on third down and a failed fourth-down run to Hunter Luepke was blown up at the line.
The teams would trade punts, leaving the Giants positioned well in Dallas territory. Mike Zimmer's group would make another stand, forcing a field goal that brought the score to 13-10 in favor of the home team.
Between another Lamb drop and a penalty on Luke Schoonmaker, the Dallas offense stalled. Dallas would get another crack but stumbled through a three-and-out. New York would not threaten on their final possession of the half and the score remain unchanged after the final minute.
