Packers aim to avoid unwanted Week 6 scenario against Joe Flacco not seen in over six decades
Packers aim to avoid unwanted Week 6 scenario against Joe Flacco not seen in over six decades 1  Flacco (15) reacts after an offensive penalty was called in the red zone during the second half of an NFL football game against Green Bay at Huntington Bank Field, Sept. 21, 2025, in Cleveland, Ohio.

Joe Flacco is not done in the NFL. At 40 years old, Flacco is about to play for another team, his second in the 2025 NFL season, after the Cleveland Browns decided to trade him to the Cincinnati Bengals. He is now slated to start this coming Sunday against the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field.

Flacco, who will turn 41 in January, is not even three weeks removed from the last time he shared the field with the Packers, but he’ll be in the same situation again, as the Bengals needed QB help amid Joe Burrow’s injury and the ineffectiveness of Jake Browning under center.

On the season, Flacco has 815 passing yards and two touchdowns with six interceptions on a 58.1 pass completion rate.

Can Flacco do it again against the Packers?

Since Flacco has already faced Green Bay this season, his experience dealing with the Micah Parsons-infused Packers defense can help him navigate the Bengals’ attack in Week 6. There’s also a chance for the veteran quarterback to pull off a feat last done in the NFL during the 1962 season.

Via Josh Dubow of the Associated Press:

If Joe Flacco starts this week and beats Packers after already doing it for Browns, he will be 2nd QB since starts first tracked in 1950 to start and beat same opponent twice in a season with different teams. Jack Kemp beat NY Titans in 1962 with Chargers and Bills

Flacco did not exactly put together a shiny performance in the Browns’ win over the Packers, as he only threw for 142 passing yards with zero touchdowns and was intercepted once. He was also sacked twice for a loss of 17 yards. Still, that counts as a quarterback win for Flacco, who is about to make a field appearance for a third AFC North franchise.
