Packers Continue Front Office Rebuild With Will Redmond Hiring
USA Today Sports

The Green Bay Packers front office added another piece last week. Green Bay is hiring Will Redmond into a front-office role. The move comes as general manager Brian Gutekunst continues reshaping the front office following the departure of former Vice President of Player Personnel Jon-Eric Sullivan, who left to become general manager of the Miami Dolphins.

SEC Background

Redmond most recently served as general manager of the football program at Auburn, working under head coach Hugh Freeze. He was not retained after Auburn hired new head coach Alex Golesh, which opened the door for an NFL move.

Before Auburn, Redmond built a strong reputation at LSU as Director of Player Personnel under Brian Kelly. When Kelly’s staff arrived, LSU had fewer than 40 scholarship players. Redmond helped rebuild the roster quickly, assembling top-10 recruiting and transfer portal classes.

Among those transfer additions was quarterback Jayden Daniels, who went on to win the Heisman Trophy in 2023. Redmond also held personnel roles at Kansas, Middle Tennessee State, and Kentucky.

The SEC remains the NFL’s most productive talent pipeline. More than 100 recent NFL Combine invites came from SEC programs. Redmond’s experience strengthens Green Bay’s access to that conference.

A Slight Connection

Redmond began working with the Packers during Senior Bowl week, evaluating prospects before the hire became public.

Redmond also has a direct connection to current Packers cornerback Carrington Valentine. During his time at Kentucky, he helped recruit Valentine out of high school. Valentine later developed into a draft pick for Green Bay in 2023.

The Bigger Picture

Green Bay’s front office is evolving. With personnel leadership changes already underway, adding Redmond strengthens the team’s college evaluation structure.

His exact title has not been formally announced, but his role is expected to center on scouting and player personnel. For a franchise built on draft-and-develop principles, adding a respected SEC evaluator fits the long-term model.
