Packers Head Coach Matt LaFleur spoke to the media outside of the Packers first OTA practice on Wednesday. LaFleur provided a few injury updates on key Packers such as Tucker Kraft, Zach Tom, and Micah Parsons. All three were lost to season ending injuries during the 2025 season. These injuries will impact their status for the start of the 2026 season.

Matt LaFleur seemed very encouraged with Tucker Kraft’s recovery process. Kraft is ahead of schedule. LaFleur went on to say that there is a chance that Kraft could be ready by the start of training camp. However, he started to walk back that comment and suggested it is more likely Kraft will return at some point during training camp. Either way, it sounds more and more likely that Kraft could be on the field for the season opener.

The news surrounding Zach Tom, who is coming off of a partially torn patellar tendon was not as encouraging. The news was not disappointing. However, earlier in the offseason, Brian Gutekunst seemed very confident that Tom will be ready by the start of training camp. Matt LaFleur mentioned that Tom is progressing in the right direction. Tom will likely be ready by the start of the training camp but it is not a guarantee.

Micah Parsons Status Report

The Packers biggest injury concern is Micah Parsons. Parsons tore his ACL in mid December so his timeline is slightly behind Tucker Kraft’s. Parsons is not present at the Packers OTAs. However, Matt LaFleur mentioned that Parsons is “doing great”. LaFleur suggested that Parsons will start training camp on the PUP list. ESPN’s Adam Schefter confirmed LaFleur’s comment on his podcast yesterday.

This news is not a shock to many Packer fans. ACL injuries take a while to heal. The thought process was Parsons is going to miss the first few weeks of the season. The NFL recently voted to change the PUP rule. Players that begin the season on the PUP list are still unable to play in their team’s first four games. However, the injured player can now return to practice as early as Week 3. In years past, the player could not play or practice until the start of Week 5. As a result, Parsons has a chance to play Week 5 against the Bears.

As the offseason progresses, the Packers will continue to field questions regarding several key players. Tom, Kraft, and Parsons are all recovering from rather serious injuries. Josh Jacobs is in the midst of a criminal investigation. What players will take the field in Week 1 is still a big question without an answer. However, the latest injury news from Matt LaFleur is overall pretty positive.
