The Packers’ emotional rollercoaster Sunday night against the Dallas Cowboys, featuring Micah Parsons’ return to take on his former team, didn’t award any bragging rights nor wins in the standings.
After Jordan Love marched the Packers’ offense down the field, setting up Brandon McManus to kick a game-tying field goal as time expired on a 40-40 contest, Green Bay headed into its bye week at 2-1-1 with some significant questions to answer. On both sides of the football.
Jacobs rushed for a pair of scores against the Cowboys, but in the end wasn’t enough to turn the tide on the tie game.
Afterwards, Jacobs was particularly blunt about the emotions of how the overtime game played out.
“It’s just weird,” Jacobs told reporters. “It [doesn’t] feel good. It almost felt like a loss, honestly. Especially to an NFC opponent. I don’t know. But I’ve got a feeling we’re gonna see these guys again.”
Whether the tie game ultimately sinks the Packers’ chances of winning the NFC North, may come down to Green Bay handling its business not just against the Detroit Lions when the rivals meet again later this season but avoiding another slip up like the 10-3 loss in Cleveland to the Browns, in Week 3.
As a result of Sunday night, the Lions, Chicago Bears, and Vikings each picked up a half-game on the Packers, that Jacobs says felt like simplly slipped away.
“Weird. Honestly, that’s the only way I can really explain it,” said Jacobs, who had 22 carries for 86 yards and a pair of touchdowns, plus four catches for 71 yards. “I think we had some stuff before the half we kind of shot ourselves in the foot with. We came out and tried to battle. Had a chance to steal a win at the end of the game, gotta find a way to pull those out.”
