Packers running back Josh Jacobs has gotten off to a sluggish start to the 2025 season, but it’s far from an outlier in his career.
Through the season’s first four games, Jacobs has posted just 266 rushing yards and four touchdowns, with two of those scores coming in a Week 4 tie with the Dallas Cowboys.
Ahead of a potentially favorable matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals, who are riding a three-game losing streak into Sunday’s game, Jacobs isn’t concerned that he hasn’t been putting up eye popping numbers to open the 2025 campaign.
“For some reason my career’s just always been like that,” Jacobs said, via ESPN. “Like it’s always been like a month of football where you get used to being hit, getting used to straining and going against other good players to really understand like to get into that flow almost of what it takes and how to be better.”
As ESPN points out, Jacobs currently ranks 11th in individual rushing yards per game (66.5), but could see that number balloon if the Packers commit to the ground attack against a Bengals defense that enters Week 6 allowing 13.2 yards per game.
After daunting battles against the Detroit Lions, Washington Commanders, Cleveland Browns and Dallas Cowboys front-sevens, perhaps a favorable matchup is all the spark Jacobs needs to ignite another strong season after rushing for 1,329 yards in his first as a Packer, last fall.
