Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has made it clear that there will be no tribute or “welcome back” video for Micah Parsons in his first appearance in Dallas since being traded to the Green Bay Packers.
Parsons seemingly feels scorned by how Jones and the Cowboys handled the contentious contract negotiations that led to both sides deciding that a clean break was more worthwhile than a long-term deal.
Whether there is some sort of glowing tribute inside AT&T Stadium Sunday night doesn’t move the needle for Parsons.
“No, there’s a lot of things I can consider disrespectful throughout this process, but I wouldn’t say the tribute is one of them,” Parsons told reporters Wednesday. “I would say, I just think there’s hard feelings maybe there for them. But for me, I’m happy where I’m at and we got a really good football team, so I guess I can [receive] my tribute in a win, I hope.”
Parsons has been pivotal for the Packers’ defense, despite being limited as he recovers from a back injury.
There is a legitimate chance that Parsons plays a full workload against his former team, which could make life extra miserable for the likes of Dak Prescott, Jones in the owners box and the rest of the Cowboys who will undoubtedly be squaring off against one of the premier pass rushers in the sport with plenty of added motivation fueling him.
