The Green Bay Packers looked sharp in their season opener against the Detroit Lions. Jordan Love threw two early touchdown passes, and Green Bay’s defense created havoc for Detroit all game.
The defense was dominant—four sacks, a red-zone interception, and holding Jahmyr Gibbs to just 31 yards on 10 catches, the fewest ever for a player with 10 receptions in a game.
New addition Micah Parsons wasted no time making an impact, pressuring Jared Goff into a red-zone turnover that Evan Williams intercepted. Parsons capped things off with his first Packers sack late in the fourth, splitting the line and chasing Goff in a full-on pursuit.

The Commanders defeated the Giants 21-6 at home. New faces made an impact right away. Deebo Samuel Jr. tallied 96 total yards and a rushing touchdown. Jacory Croskey-Merritt, averaged 8.2 yards per carry and scored his first NFL touchdown as well.
Washington’s defense was dominant, holding New York to just 74 rushing yards—the 10th-lowest total and ninth-lowest yards-per-carry in Week 1.
Green Bay didn’t escape the opener injury-free. Right tackle Zach Tom left with a hip injury in the third quarter. Edge rusher Brandon Cox Jr. went out with a groin issue, and cornerback Bo Melton suffered a shoulder injury.
Jayden Reed played through a Jones fracture in his left foot and looked solid. Reed recorded three receptions for 45 yards and a touchdown. Reed will be a key player to monitor this week because of a quick turnaround.
Parsons has been dealing with an L4/L5 facet joint sprain in his back, but he’s optimistic about his availability. Parsons is expecting to be “full go” by the end of the month—huge news for Packers fans.
Micah Parsons said he didn't need an injection to play Sunday and he expects to be "full go" by the end of this month.

Washington came out of Week 1 relatively healthy, with only punter Tress Way leaving briefly due to a back issue.
Micah Parsons (Packers):
Parsons played just 30 snaps (about 45% of defensive snaps) but made them count. He lined up all over the defensive front, mostly on the edge, and showed he can disrupt any offense. With Washington allowing three sacks in Week 1, expect Parsons to be a major factor in this matchup.
Wow Micah Parsons beats All Pro Penei Sewell again to pressure Jared Goff into throwing the INT.

Jayden Daniels (Commanders):
The reigning Offensive Rookie of the Year is back, and he looked sharp against the Giants—233 passing yards, a touchdown, no picks, and 68 rushing yards. Daniels will need to be clean and efficient to move the Commanders past a tough Green Bay defense.
Jayden Daniels just plays stress free and with so much confidence.

Thursday night’s game has all the makings of a tough, physical matchup.
The Packers are dealing with injuries, but showed in Week 1 that their defense, especially with Micah Parsons in the mix, can take over a game.
Washington enters the matchup healthier, led by a confident Jayden Daniels, who looks every bit the leader that took them deep into the playoffs last season.
With both teams facing a short week and aiming for deep playoff runs, execution and early momentum will be key. The team that handles the pressure and sets the tone early should have the edge in this primetime showdown.
