The Green Bay Packers and Dallas Cowboys ended their Week 4 Sunday Night Football matchup in a 40-40 tie. It was a high-scoring game and for Green Bay, wide receiver Romeo Doubs stole the show.
By the end of the night, the four-year veteran hauled in six receptions, 58 yards and an astounding three touchdowns on eight targets. With fellow wideout Jayden Reed on the injured reserve with a collarbone injury, Doubs has stepped up in a big way.
However, his time with the Packers may not last beyond the 2025 season, as his rookie contract is set to expire at the end of the year.
However, following that performance against the Cowboys, ESPN's Jeremy Fowler revealed the Packers may be looking to keep him in Green Bay.
"The Packers have shown no interest in trading him, and my sense is they have more interest in potentially extending him," Fowler wrote. "The sides have had cursory talks, keeping in contact about the future. Doubs staying in Green Bay beyond 2025 is at least a possibility."
The wide receiver has been solid since the Packers took him in the fourth round of the 2022 NFL Draft. That's especially true in 2025, having the second most receptions (13), yards (1798) and most touchdowns (four) for Green Bay.
However, it is worth noting that Doubs has been at the center of many trade rumors, with The Athletic's Matt Schneidman reporting that, "I’ve heard the Packers had conversations about dealing Doubs earlier in the summer."
That's obviously cooled off, though, as he's established himself as one of quarterback Jordan Love's favorite targets.
It's not exactly clear how much Doubs would earn in an extension, but Mark Oldacres of Packers Wire wrote in August that a "Somewhere in the $12 million to $14 million [per year] range is probably the sweet spot."
Whether it's through an extension or in the open market, Doubs has played himself into a payday. Considering his recent performance and his connection with Love, it's no surprise Green Bay would want him to stay.
